Atlantic Jive was born in September 2005 and then re-born under new supervision of Stacey Vaughan in April 2008.



This young teacher has brought a new way of teaching to Modern Jive and has been very successful. In just under 9 months the numbers for Atlantic jive have jumped from an average of  20 dancers per night to around 40 - 45 dancers per night and growing!

The age range of dancers at Atlantic Jive has also increased, the youngest member of 16 years of age to the oldest of 68 years of age.



Although Atlantic Jive has THE youngest teacher in Modern Jive it is considered to be one of the fastest growing venues in North Devon.

Stacey has promised to deliver a stress free and fun dance class where you are not part of a group but a family. She welcomes you to join her on a Wednesday evening. Details on the "where and when" section of this site.

What is Modern Jive?

Question 1 - "Am I too old"

Answer - "Don’t be silly, our class' age range is from 16 years to 65+ years"

Question 2 - "Am I too fat"
Answer - "Hell no! Being on the larger side is not a problem in Jive"!

Question 3 - "Do I have to have a partner"?
Answer - "You do not require a partner. Just turn up and dance all night"!

Question 4 - "I have two left feet, does this mean I will have trouble"?
Answer - "No, Modern Jive has no set footwork - you make that bit up"!

Question 5 - "Do I have to dance with people I do not know"
Answer - "We would never ask you to do anything you are not fully comfortable with, so if you would like to stick to a partner then that is fine however dancing with other experienced dancers will improve your skill immensely"!

Question 6 - "I feel I am getting tired of beginners and intermediates so what other options do I have to improve"
Answer - "If you feel you are reaching a level ground and not making progress, there are many paths to follow. For example... Competitions, Workshops, Advanced Classes can be taught. Also we are not the only venue out there, ask any of the crew for details of other clubs.
